I know I’ve said this before, but photography is tough business. It’s fulfilling. Sure. It’s also stressful when you’re striving to be your own creator and trying to establish your own style. It’s also stressful when you feel you’ve reached a peak and can’t go any further than you already have. You want to put the camera down. When you’ve hit a plateau, how do you remain inspired?
I recently went to a Photoshop World Expo in Vegas a few weeks ago. I learned a few things and heard a few great speakers. All inspiring? Yes. There’s definitely a lot more to learn out there and lots more to be inspired about. When you listen to photographers who love what they do and do what they love… well, you can’t help but envy their profession. There was one speaker who quoted the famous Robert Capa: If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.
This quote resonates with what I’ve been trying to accomplish through my photography. It means that a great photographer should become more involved and intimate with their subjects… and this is straight to the heart of my tagline that life and love are in the details.
A few weeks before Vegas, I was blessed with the opportunity to capture Kimberly’s family in Santa Monica while they were visiting from Colorado. A long way to come for a photo session.
There was one image I captured that I couldn’t keep my eyes off of. There was something touching about this photo that just moved me, and sometimes that’s all you need… just the one to keep you inspired.

Love this picture. Beautiful work, Aileen!!
